A nice cozy little city, Kanazawa. People call it a “Small Kyoto”.
Not too far from Tokyo, nor from Osaka, Kanazawa has all the must-see spots within walking distance of its central: JR Kanazawa station.

I would say, 2 days is enough to enjoy its core. You can take a convenient local buses or taxis to travel one spot to another, but if you are confident of your feet, walk in the city. Feel the atmosphere of the small town that still remains the essence of ancient culture. Don’t forget to bring a camera.

◆Enjoy Gourmet food
If you leave Osaka or Tokyo in the morning, you don’t want to eat too much breakfast. Because you will be in Kanazawa at the best gourmet time: Lunch.
Only 10-15 minutes walk from JR Kanazawa station, you get to the famous fish market, Omicho-ichiba.

There are many restaurants serving truly fresh fruits of the sea. Familiar with raw-fish? Then, “Kaisendon”, a raw-fish rice bowl definitely is the best one to start off the day in this city.

◆Enjoy Nature
After lunch, let’s make another 15 mins walk to “Ken roku en”. This is a beautiful park named after having 6 (roku) breath-taking views. This park is at its best all around year. Cherry blossoms in spring, bright green garden in summer, colored leaves in autumn, silent snow scene in winter. Walk up the hill and have the bird’s-eye view of the city. When you are tired of walking, there is a old Japanese styled teahouse is waiting for you.

◆Enjoy Ninja history
What is great about Kanazawa is its multifaceted nature. “Myou ryu ji” has its honored nick name, “Ninja temple”, for being wall-to-wall with entrapments. Make sure to make a phone reservation because you cannot freely go into the temple but very trained guide will take you around.
