Take Denentoshi line from Shibuya station, or JR Yokohama line from Yokohama station.
Then, change trains at Nagatsuta station to Kodomonokuni line. There are only three stops on and Kodomonokuni station is the last stop on this line.
It takes only 30 minutes to get away and make yourself relax under full-bloomed SAKURA blossoms.

Kodomonokuni is a natural park located acrossing the border between Yokohama city in Kanagawa prefecture and Machida city in Tokyo.

This park might be both geographically and historically important. It was founded as a commemoration of Royal marriage over 50 years ago.

During the war time, this huge area used to be utilized as ammunition chamber. Inside the park, if you are careful enough, you may be able to find some spots that is associated to war such as air-laid shelter.
However, now this park is a symbol of peace and is actively used to support children to have healthy and sound body and soul.

Not only kids but any generations of people can enjoy this very maintained park.

In spring, as you see in these pictures, you will be welcome by beautiful cherry blossoms above you. In summer, let’s grab some sandwiches and do a all-day long walk – it may take a day to go around all the area in this broad area.

I would reocmmend you to start a picnic day in the morning. Because this park closes at 4:30 in the afternoon. It may be a little bit early for you, but another entertainment from the train you go back. Sakura viewing from the train!
